Fast forward a few weeks. I am quite active on Facebook and use it to network primarily with my family and mom friends. Oftentimes, I post pictures of my kids doing activities or just being their cute selves. All of a sudden, I have mom friends asking me if I'm on Pinterest. Glorified bookmarking?! No thanks!* So they asked if I had a blog. Um, no. Their general response was that I should because they wanted to follow me in my creative adventures. My response was that I had thought about it. Truly, I had because I knew it would be a way for me to keep up (or at least attempt to!) with my resolution to write more. There was only one problem. I needed a name for my blog. I didn't want the typical "Insert-name-here's Blog." To me, coming up with a name for a blog would be like naming a child. It had to be perfect! Thus, the hunt for the perfect name began!
Obviously, you already see what name has been chosen, "And Next Comes L." Kind of random, I know, but it will make sense in a bit. First, I have to give some brief background information. I have two sons, J who is just about 3 1/2 years old and K who is 17 months. Both of their names are also inspired by famous NBA players. When K was born, the running joke in my family was that the next child would have to have a name that started with L. Their suggestions, of course, were Lebron, which is not going to happen. Sorry. So when I told the inquiring moms that coming up with a perfect name would be like naming my third child, my thoughts kept returning to that joke of the next kid would have to have a name starting with L. So, there it is. My perfect blog name.
There is another reason why the blog name is just plain awesome. Some of the best things start with L: love, life, learning, laughter. See! Who doesn't love those?!
Finally, the name is perfect because this blog will be about how I go about teaching my kids how to love, how to enjoy life, how to laugh, and how to make learning fun.
Clearly, there is so much more to naming a blog than just mere words. Mine has meaning and that's why I love it.
*I have since joined Pinterest and I now realize that it is so much more than glorified bookmarking. You can follow me on Pinterest here.
