It appears fall is on its way, so we've been embracing fall with some simple fall activities, like this fall light table idea. It is a perfect sensory activity for toddlers and preschoolers that also works on fine motor skills.
Sticky Fall Light Table Idea: What You'll Need
If you've been looking for fall leaf preschool activities and have a light table or box, then you definitely have to give this adorable idea a try. Here's what you'll need:
- Tape
Using my sticky apple tree activity as the inspiration, I drew a leafless brown tree using permanent markers on the non-sticky side of the contact paper. I then taped the tree to our DIY light table, sticky side up.
So the invitation to play looked like this...
Toddlers & Preschoolers Will Love this Fall Leaf Activity on the Light Table!
K was the first one to check it out. He carefully scattered the leaves through some branches and really captured the essence of fall by putting lots of fluttering leaves.
Here's K's finished tree. Looks lovely, doesn't it?
J later checked it out after I removed all of K's leaves. He also scattered the leaves nicely, as you can see below.
Then he decided to put all the leaves back onto the tree. I'm guessing he's not ready for summer to go away yet. Me neither.
Here's what J's tree looked like when he was done. I love how he focused on making sure the leaves all touched a branch somewhere on the tree.
Don't have a light table? Try this activity on a mirror or a window instead.
