There was something that happened at school recently that really pushed me to write this story...
I won't go into details, but basically, a few kids would have been heading home that day to ask their parents what autism is.
So this social story is for them.
The kids who just found out that they're friend is autistic (in a shocking manner might I add!), but yet have no idea what autism means.
This free printable my friend has autism social story is written in identify first language and shows that while their autistic friend might act or talk differently, they're still your friend and that we all have our own strengths and weaknesses.
About the Free Printable Social Story
This social story is designed to help you explain autism to a child who's friend is autistic. Or maybe your child was introduced to autism at school and was wondering what it meant. There is a strong likelihood that someone in their class is autistic and this story can help them better understand what being autistic means.
The story is written positively, just like the I Am Autistic Social Story is. No doom and gloom here. Just all positive vibes for having a unique brain that sees the world differently.
I highly suggest laminating the social story for durability. You can use binder rings to keep the social story together or store it in a binder. As an alternative to laminating, you could use sheet protectors in a binder. Or if you find yourself printing off lots of social stories, then this binding machine is a lifesaver!
