Fun fact: 2019 was the year I made two Nintendo birthday cakes for my boys (tutorials to come some time...). Yep, I made a Yoshi cake for J and a Super Famicon game console for K.

1. Super Mario Advent Calendar

Count down to Christmas with Mario and friends! You better believe I scooped up one of these for my kids (it didn't arrive in time for December 1st, but whatever). I just know my kids are going to LOVE it!

2. Super Mario Encyclopedia: The Official Guide to the First 30 Years

This book has been so well loved in our house. It has been taped and repaired too many times to count. If your kids are into the history of Mario and the video games in its franchise, then this book won't disappoint.

3. Bumkins Nintendo Super Mario Reusable Snack Bags

I stocked up on these reusable snack bags for my boys earlier this year to use in their school lunches and they're so great. Easy to clean too! We have the Zelda, Gameboy & NES controller, and Super Mario ones. I wanted the 8 bit ones too, but they were sold out when I first picked these up for my kids.

4. Super Mario Level Up Board Game

My boys love to play this game and so do my husband and I. Tons of fun! Now, if only we could locate the missing Donkey Kong figure for it...

5. Mario Plush Toys

Both of my boys requested Mario character plush toys for their birthdays and Christmas. I personally like to stock up on Aliexpress because they're so much cheaper there (meaning you can buy them more characters!), but you do have to allow more time for shipping. Bowser Jr. and Yoshi are the favorites so far.

6. Super Mario Perler Bead Bucket Activity Kit

We have made our own Super Mario perler bead projects in the past (see here and here), but you can just buy a premade kit with all the designs and colors of beads you need. My youngest would love this since he's the big perler bead crafter in the house.

7. Super Mario Bros. Fridge Magnets

Let the kids create their own Mario levels on any magnetic surface. I know my boys would love these!

8. Super Mario Checkers

We don't have this particular fancy version (we don't have the Luigi and Mario "king" caps - those are cool!), but we have the regular Super Mario Checkers that comes in a box and my kids enjoy it. I think my kids would love the Mario Chess set too (if they knew how to play chess that is).

9. Super Mario Bros Power Up Card Game

I have had my eye on this game for my kids for awhile. It's not super expensive. There's just so many other games I want to buy before this one (we are huge board game geeks!), but it looks fun.

10. Super Mario Adventures Book

I have read this with my youngest son so many times. He loves this comic book!

11. Super Mario Funtainer Water Bottle by Thermos

We have these water bottles (just not Super Mario themed) and they are amazing. Especially great for kids who love to chew.

Super Mario Gift Ideas: My Top Video Game Picks

1. Nintendo Switch

You'll need a Switch to play the games I'm going to recommend below. Highly recommend owning one anyway as it is a fantastic family console.

2. Super Mario Maker 2

A game where you design the levels and play them. We have both the original Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2. Both of my boys love this game!

3. Luigi's Mansion 3

I have been playing this game myself, but so has my youngest son. He likes to keep rubbing in the fact that he's further in the game than I am at the moment! Regardless, it's a fun solo or two player game. Actually, I think it is way more fun as a two player game.

4. Yoshi's Crafted World

My oldest looked forward to this game for months and it didn't disappoint. It's a really fun two player game, perfect for kids who love Yoshi as much as my son does.
