Memory games are great for building all sorts of skills. They can improve vocabulary, build memory skills, improve visual skills, encourage kids to pay attention to details...the list goes on and on.
And, as you can probably guess by the title, this particular game that I'm sharing below also focuses on teaching emotions.
This candy corn emotions memory matching game is perfect for building emotional vocabulary this Halloween. And I think your kids are going to love it!
About this Candy Corn Emotions Memory Matching Game
You're probably already familiar with the game of memory. To play, you place all the cards face down. Then you flip two cards over. If they're a match, keep them face up. If they're not, flip them back face down. Repeat until you find all the matches. It's super easy to play.
Now, this particular game contains 12 different emotions to match, including happy, sad, surprised, nervous, mad, excited, silly, frustrated, bored, scared, calm, and upset.
Each card features a candy corn emoji and a written word to describe the emotion. Remember, it's important to use the written word with hyperlexic kids!
I highly recommend printing this game on cardstock as its thicker and more durable than regular paper. When you print on paper, you can often see through it a bit, which will kind of ruin the point of this game. The idea is to remember where you saw the different emotions. Being able to see through the paper is kind of like cheating. So yeah, print on cardstock.
You could even look for some fun Halloween themed cardstock that has a print on one side and is blank/white on the other side.
